Hi folks,

There is a 2001 Kubota L3710 with 60 hours, LA681 FEL, Woods 9000 backhoe, and Woods 8100 Chipper. Asking price is $23,500. I'm playing phone tag to get more details. I won't consider it if it doesn't have 4wd.

Is this a reasonable price?

How does the L3710 compare to the L35?

I'm going to buy a tractor, likely sooner then later. I have rented, and been impressed with the Kubota L35, and I have a local dealer within 5 miles, so Kubota is the choice.

I have about 6 acres of mostly woods with some grass which I cut with my JD STX 38. I don't plan on finish mowing with the big tractor.

What I'm planning to use the tractor for is to move a large amount of fill that I'm going to have delivered this spring to finish off the landscaping properly. I figure I'll need a landscape rake to help with that. After the landscaping, I'll need to clear a site for the new shed/barn/garage. I also have a lot of blow downs and standing dead wood that I plan to haul out of the woods and turn into firewood. I figure I'll get the Farmi JL 351 winch or similar to help with that. I also have some good size boulders that I will need to push around using both the FEL and backhoe. I've hauled away my share of brush, and was salivating over the chippers, but they are pretty expen$ive, so I didn't think I would be able to justify it, especially if I was going to go with a new L35.

I was all ready to go to the dealer this weekend and sign up for the L35, without a chipper, and now I see this L3710, that comes with a chipper, for much less.

One of the things I like about the L35 is that the backhoe is real strong. How does the Woods 9000 stack up to that?

How about the FEL, is the LA681 that comes with the 3710 comparable to the L35?

Thanks for your input!

The L-35 is a specialty type unit and there is not a unit in it's class that comes close with performance. It has an 17 gallon per minute pumping system that makes it the hottest unit for hydraulic work dwarfing the 10 to 12 gallon systems in some of the newest compacts comparable in size. I don't know that you could use the L-35 for normal day to day duties. There are no mid mount mowers available. The Woods hoe will not out perform this hoe at all in any way. It is in the mounting system that the difference is. ....

Thanks Art.

That confirms my suspicions. Although it's more tractor then I need day to day, I don't want there to be any days where it's not enough tractor. So, I think I'm going to have to go with a new L35, I've been spoiled. My wife pointed out that we should get a new tractor, since that's the centerpiece, and we can go with used 3PH attatchments, and we don't have to buy all the attatchments when we get the tractor. Anything used doesn't come with a warranty, etc. We're going to have this tractor for a LOONG time.

Any pointers on options, things to look out for? Options to absolutely get, and options not to bother with? I seem to remember something about a higher capacity alternator, that's something I'd be interested in. I want an enclosed cab. I know they come with a standard FOPS, does kubota have a cab option? I definitely want the quick attach bucket on the FEL. The dealer said they can do that using an aftermarket, I think he said ATI?? I'll want the HD with a cutting edge at a minimum, but I'd like a larger size lighter duty bucket for moving stuff around. And I'll also want, eventually, some pallet forks.

Thanks again for your input. ....
